Step aside Fulham FC.

The pre-tournament favourites for the JSSL Singapore International 7s Professional Academy competition were cast aside by the academy team from Sporting Club de Portugal or Sporting Lisbon, as they are affectionately known as.

In the final played on 1 May at the Padang, Sporting Lisbon edged out Perth Glory 2-0.

Sporting’s goals were scored by Ciriaco Santos and Borges Reis Miguel in each of the two 15 minute halves.

Said 16-year-old Santos: “A big thank you to all our fans in Singapore who came to support us over the last three days.”

In the respective semi-finals, Sporting Lisbon edged out England’s Fulham FC 1-0 while Perth Glory beat Penang FA 2-1.

The JSSL Singapore International 7s attracted 260 teams and more than 3000 players from 14 different countries this year.
