Singapore’s para swimmer Toh Wei Soong has qualified for the men’s 50m freestyle S7 final at the Tokyo Paralympics to be held on 31 August.

Toh clocked a personal best and equalled his national record, as he touched the wall in a time of 29.01s during his heats at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

He finished fifth in his qualifier and will have to battle against the likes of Ukraine’s Andrii Trusov (27.44s), Egor Efrosinin (28.24s) from the Russian Paralympic Committee and Ukrainian Yevhenii Bohodaiko (28.27s) for a place on the podium.

Toh, a Paralympics debutant, is placed eighth overall in the heats.
