Baihakki quits FAS. What is next is not known yet.

Sep 17, 2025 ,

Former Singapore international Baihakki Khaizan has announced his resignation from the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), drawing the curtain on his first stint in football administration.

The 41-year-old revealed his decision on 16 September via Facebook and Instagram, reflecting on his time at the FAS coming just weeks after a publicised social media episode involving his wife Norfasarie Mohd Yahya, who lashed out at the FAS over their son’s national U16 stint.

Her social media post questioning the omission of their son Mika from the national Under-16 squad after he skipped an overseas training stint to sit for N-level exams divided opinion and went viral.

“With humility and respect, I officially announce my resignation from the Football Association of Singapore,” he wrote.

“I still remember my first days in office, asking myself where to begin. Drawing from my time on the pitch, I carried with me the principle to ‘play simple, but effective.”

Baihakki thanked his colleagues for their trust and teamwork, and said that their support had helped translate his ideas into reality.

While he did not reveal his next move, he indicated that this was the end of a chapter but not his mission to contribute to the game.

TMSG understands that Sport Singapore may be an option.

A stalwart of the Lions with 140 caps, Baihakki won three ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Championship titles and famously scored the decisive goal in the 2012 Suzuki Cup final against Thailand.

After retiring in 2022, the defender took up the role of FAS lead for special projects and ambassador, later moving to the technical division as head of planning.

He launched the FAS Players’ Concierge, designed to guide footballers in financial, educational and career matters, and contributed to Unleash The Roar.

His departure comes as the FAS undergoes changes at the top, with Badri Ghent taking over as general secretary following Chew Chun-Liang’s resignation on 1 September.
