Singapore Youth League club coach called out for posting photo of his private parts on Instagram. Coach says he has not done anything wrong.

Jun 18, 2024 ,

A coach from a Singapore Youth League (SYL) club has been called out for sharing a photo of his private parts on Instagram Stories to his list of “Close Friends”.

It is not known who is in his “Close Friends” list on Instagram. In fact, the coach in question also tells TMSG that he did not know who was on the list.

TMSG was first alerted to the incident through an IG DM from an informant who sent us explicit details about the incident.

The informant also sent us a copy of the digital image, which shows an erect penis.

What is clear is the profile of the sender, with his profile on the top left of the image.

TMSG cannot name the club and the coach as there is a possibility that there are minors involved.

The club in question participates in the SYL.

The said Instagram account used by the coach is no longer in use, and he has since changed accounts.

One thing about his new account is that the profile photo is similar to the profile photo which he uses on his Facebook account.

Another former player who spoke to TMSG under anonymity said that there have been instances when players used to stay over at his house.

The coach in question allegedly “acted very strange” at night, which then freaked the players out.

Comments have been made on TMSG’s blurbs since they were posted.

There is also a possibility that the coach was catfished to draw him out, given that certain individuals were aware of his alleged behaviour and inclination.

In a IG DM conversation between the coach and his alleged “victim”, the coach continued the sexual advances after finding out that he was allegedly 17-years-old.

One of the players also pointed out to the dodgy accounts which the club follows on X.

COACH ASKED FOR MEETING, DOESN’T TURN UP

In response to the blurb which was posted on TMSG, the alleged perpetrator reached out to TMSG asking for a meeting through a DM on Facebook.

On Facebook, he goes by another moniker, which is not in any way linked to his own name.

The one consistency is the use of the “Unleash The Roar” profile photo.

TMSG proposed 12pm on 18 June 2024, which was agreed upon.

At the said time, the coach did not turn up.

Given that he had left his mobile number when communicating with TMSG via DM, TMSG called him to ask if he would be turning up.

He said he was “advised not to turn up” if he was attending the meeting alone.

TMSG was also informed by other sources that he had contacted them to have them delete comments posted on their accounts, as they would not be good for him.

HIS EXPLANATION OVER HIS ACTIONS

He first said that he had only sent the said photo to a stranger online through his account.

He said that he was not aware who was on his “Close Friends” list and decided to shut the account when he became “scared” about what he had done without realising the consequences of his actions.

When asked if he had informed others that his Instagram account had been hacked and that he had filed a police report, he confirmed it.

But when asked again whether he had filed a report about a hack, given that he had admitted to posting the photo but then shutting it down thereafter, he then said he “cannot confirm anything.”

He also said he couldn’t recall if he had sent any audio messages to anyone.

TMSG has the audio evidence which confirms that it was his voice in the recording.

He went on to share that what happened was his personal affairs and had nothing to do with football.

“This is a personal thing, and has nothing to do with football,” he said.

“It is my personal affairs,” he added.

He further added that there was nothing for him to apologise for, as doing so would mean that he had done “something wrong”.

He also added that any of his alleged victims should file a police report if they feel that they had been violated.

HOW SHOULD THE FAS REACT

Given the revelations about the club and its coach, the Football Association of Singapore should check on the background of the alleged perpetrator concerned and do its part to ensure that children and youth players are not at risk.

Even if the coach had not done anything to players under his care, there is now a risk for their safety, given that he himself has admitted that it was his personal affairs.

Would he end up doing the same thing to a player? How can players protect themselves from potential paedophiles?

There are multiple red flags which cannot be ignored, which serves as a stark reminder about the need to ensure children and youth can engage in sport in a safe environment.
