FAS Council member Harman Ali resigns.

Feb 18, 2025 ,

A council member of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has resigned, just months before the next elections for office bearers is due.

TMSG has come to understand that Harman Ali (main photo), a member of the FAS Council from 2021 tendered his resignation at the end of January.

It is not known what the reasons are for his exit.

He submitted his official resignation to the President of the FAS Bernard Tan and the executive committee (EXCO) and also to the general secretary Chew Chun Liang.

The FAS leadership has yet to make this announcement public.

The same organisation which organises engagement session for its fans does not seem to know how to manage its most critical stakeholders which are on its leadership body.

TMSG has reached out to Harman.

Sources also informed TMSG that Harman has since exited the FAS Council WhatsApp chatgroup.

In 2024, he challenged the FAS after he was suspended from his duties as a council member, engaging senior lawyer Glenn Knight as his legal pillar.

The suspension was subsequently lifted.

Harman is not the first one to have resigned from his position.

Ben Teng, a sitting vice-president, asked for a leave after absence from the FAS exco a year ago.

It is not known what Razali Saad, another sitting vice-president, actually does to steer Singapore football given his perceived conflict of interest in certain areas given his role as a full-time staff at Sport Singapore.

The role of Deputy President has also not been filled after Bernard Tan assumed the role of President following the passing of former President Lim Kia Tong.
