TMSG can announce to the public that former Singapore international Kadir Yahaya has joined Unleash The Roar as a Director of Football.
A screengrab of the announcement was shared with TMSG by a source who asked to remain anonymous.
It is understood that Kadir, a firmer international defender, may be seconded to the FAS as head of the national development centre.
This is not corroborated.
The FAS or UTR have both not made any official announcement about Kadir’s hiring.
With the contract of the current technical director Michael Browne set to run out in July 2025, could it well be that Kadir is being prepared for the role as technical director?
That is what a senior official who first shared the information with TMSG seems to believe.
Another source who is close to TMSG added that this appointment of Kadir into development system should be credited to UTR and not FAS.
But if so isn’t that also opening a can of worms about the role of Sport Singapore in the administration of the sport?
If there was a need for a head of national youth development, shouldn’t the FAS have a say in how and who is hired for the role?
Kadir’s role at the UTR comes after his stint in Thailand as head of youth development at BG Pathum.
He is widely seen as a disciplinarian who takes a no nonsense approach.
One of his last posts on his Facebook account slammed for the FAS for its actions.
