A Singaporean footballer who suffered a seizure while he was on a pre-season training stint in Kuala Lumpur has passed on.
On 6 April at about 8.30pm, friends began to post messages online about the passing of Karthik Raj, a Singapore Khalsa Association (SKA) footballer.
Karthik had suffered a seizure while in Kuala Lumpur on 1 April and was medically repatriated back to Singapore on 2 April through an air ambulance.
Karthik was in the intensive care unit at the Singapore General Hospital and was on life support.
Two national footballers – Zharfan Rohaizad and Zulfahmi Arifin – have since posted condolence messages on social media.

Karthik joined SKA in 2022 as a promising footballer and was voted young player of the year by his fellow teammates.
The SKA also started a fundraising campaign to assist the family.
