Singapore’s first-ever development academy for futsal – Lions Futsal Academy – officially launched at *SCAPE on National Day, welcoming young futsal players and their families for an energetic National Day celebration dedicated to the future of the game in Singapore.

Established for young players aged six to 16, Lions Futsal Academy is Singapore’s pioneer futsal academy focused on developing players both on and off the court.

Through structured, age-appropriate training, the academy aims to strengthen technical ability while instilling confidence, discipline, teamwork and character. Approximately 50 young players attended the launch, along with parents and members of the futsal community, who took part in a fast-paced five-station futsal circuit at the *SCAPE Ground Theatre.

Designed to introduce participants to the academy’s training philosophy, the circuit challenged young players across different aspects of the game, including ball control, passing, agility, decision-making and finishing. Participants also had the opportunity to interact with coaches and learn more about the academy’s programmes.

Singapore football legend Fandi Ahmad also attended the launch as a special guest, meeting young players and sharing words of encouragement about the importance of dedication, discipline and enjoying the game.

Kenneth Kwang, Co-Founder of Lions Futsal Academy, said, “We created Lions Futsal Academy because we believe every young player should have a positive and inspiring environment in which to discover their potential as a Futsal player. Futsal is an exciting way for children to develop their technical skills, think quickly and learn how to work as a team.

”We want to help them grow into confident and resilient individuals. Launching the academy on National Day made the occasion especially meaningful, as we celebrated not only the sport but also the young players who may one day represent Singapore,” added the futsal enthusiast.

The launch also reflected Lions Futsal Academy’s commitment to building an inclusive community around the game, bringing together children, parents, coaches and supporters to celebrate homegrown sporting talent and Singapore’s shared passion for futsal as the team develops a pipeline for the future, which includes opportunities to play in the regional futsal leagues.

Singapore football legend, Fandi Ahmad, shared, “It was wonderful to see so many young players enjoying themselves and showing such enthusiasm for Futsal. At this age, children need to build strong fundamentals, but they should also be encouraged to have fun, make friends and develop a genuine love for futsal, and football. There is a lot of potential for growth in futsal, and I do hope to see a Singapore national futsal team participate at the Futsal World Cup in the near future.”

Following the official launch, Lions Futsal Academy will offer programmes for different age groups and ability levels, providing young players with a structured pathway to sharpen their skills, build confidence and experience the pride of belonging to a vibrant futsal community.

Parents interested in enrolling their children can register or find out more about the academy’s programmes by contacting Lions Futsal Academy via WhatsApp at +65 8961 3955.
