After a break of four years, the Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) will once again organise an international tournament in Singapore, a 4-Nations for both the men’s and women’s national teams.
The five-day tournament will be held at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium from 13 to 17 December and will involve teams from Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, Thailand and Indonesia.

For this edition, the SHF has also named the two trophies after two former SHF Presidents, both luminaries in hockey and sports in Singapore.
The men’s trophy will be called the E.W. Barker Cup while the women’s trophy has been named the Annabel Pennefather Cup.
Barker (photo below) was a past President of the SHF, President of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Minister for Law.

He was also an all-rounder, having played football, rugby, cricket and hockey, and passed on in 2001.
Pennefather (photo below) was also a former President of the SHF, a Vice President of the hockey world body and Vice President of the SNOC.

She was a Singapore national hockey player, captained the team and was an outstanding technical official.
She was also the Technical Delegate for women’s hockey at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and 2000 Sydney Olympics, and Singapore’s first chef de mission to the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and passed on in 2020.
Said Mathavan Devadas, President of the SHF, “This competition was started in order to ensure that there was an annual international hockey tournament hosted in Singapore.
“As we emerged from the pandemic it was important to bring international hockey back to Singapore in a big way.”
The SHF added that it hopes to make the 4-Nations Singapore an annual event and to grow its importance and prominence in Asia.
All matches will be held at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium and admission is free.
