$80 to book futsal court in Teban Gardens. Resident voices concerns.

Jul 16, 2024 , ,

A resident in Teban Gardens has questioned the constituency’s decision to upgrade a football playing court to an artificial turf which has now led to the court being utilised on a pay-for-play basis.

In a photo submitted to TMSG, it appears that children below the age of 18 will have to pay $40 for a two hour slot on weekdays and $80 on weekends.

A charge of $80 also applies for bookings made on weekdays from 6pm onwards for two hours.

In addition, there is also a refundable deposit of $50 needed from the children.

“Initially, before the upgrading lots of young school boys were playing there.

“Now nobody seems to play there any more.”

“Look at the charges.”

The resident pointed out how children will not have access to that kind of money in the area, especially those who want to play football.

“Do the people who made this decision know the background of the people who live in their own estate?”

He also added that he thought that the court was being upgraded for the residents for use and was shocked when the charges were announced.

TMSG reached out to Foo Mee Har, a Member of Parliament for the area which comes under West Coast GRC.

Among other things, we asked for the usage numbers ever since the place was designated as a pay for play facility.

There was no response to our questions.
