TMSG understands that the club was informed of the decision by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) through an email on 29 February.

When contacted, Woodlands Lions chief R Vengadasalam confirmed that his submission was not approved.

He gave no other details.

On 6 Dec 2023, the FAS put up a request for interested parties to submit a comprehensive proposal to be considered as the SPL’s tenth club for the upcoming season.

Woodlands Lions and Tengah FC submitted their interests.

While Woodlands remained silent over the last two months, Tengah FC created a stir with a social media post which indicated that they had granted in-principle approval to play in the SPL.

That has since been labelled as a hoax perpetrated by their own online misdemeanour.

The club also said that they had asked for an extension of the deadline to show proof of funds.

It is not known what has been the outcome.
