TMSG readers have slammed the violent act displayed by Tanjong Pagar United’s Aniq Rizqin at a Singapore Premier League U21 match against Albirex Niigata which took place on 10 February at the Jurong East Stadium.

In a video sent to TMSG about 15 minutes after the incident, it appears that Aniq (jersey number 65) ran up towards an Albirex player and subsequently threw a punch.

The Albirex player is said to be Kenji Austin.

TMSG’s video collaboration with Wake Up Singapore has since racked up more than 200,000 views so far.

In another video sent to TMSG thereafter, it also appears that the same player slapped an Albirex player when both teams lined up for the post-match handshakes.

It is unclear if the player is the same one who was assaulted in the video which was sent to TMSG.

TMSG places on record that we received three videos from the match venue after the assault.

In one of the videos, one of the fans shout “we have video evidence”.

In a statement placed on the Tanjong Pagar United social media early on 11 February morning, the club said that “the actions displayed by our player do not reflect the values and standards of our club.

“We do not condone violence and unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“The player was reprimanded for his misconduct and further disciplinary actions would be taken against him.”

The club volunteered the information that a police report had been filed.

“We will await for the investigation to be completed before making further comments.”
