Singapore’s Safe Sport Commission has suspended Singapore Cricket Association (SCA) Chief Executive Officer Saad Khan Janjua for a period of one year from coaching.

He has also been suspended from administration until he completes what has been described as “educational intervention.”

TMSG understands that complaints were filed against him alleging mental and verbal abuse.

Players who spoke to TMSG, among the words used allegedly included “BLACKIE”, “BLACK DUSTBIN” and “F***ER”.

SCA has not made any public comments about the suspension on their website or social media.

TMSG understands that Saad, a Pakistani-born Singaporean has up to 14 days to file an appeal.

It is not known if he will appeal.

Apart from his role as CEO, he is listed on his Linkedin as being the SCA’s Director of Coaching.

Players who spoke to TMSG on condition of anonymity spoke of the systematic mental and verbal abuse they had been put through over a period of time.

They also shared the words which had been allegedly used by him, which became the subject of the complaint.

“There are many other terms which have been used which should not have been used on any player, especially in a country like Singapore,” said one of the players who shared his experience with TMSG.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” the player shared.

“This needs to be made public so that there is change within the sport of cricket in Singapore,” he added.

The suspension by Safe Sport is a clear indicator that the complaints were justified, the players who spoke to TMSG said.
