Former Singapore national coach V Sundram Moorthy has been appointed the national coach of Laos.
Having stepped down in April after two years as the Lions coach, Sundram will have his task cut out for him in Laos, who were once considered the region’s minnows.
He told the Straits Times that he was honoured and excited by the appointment, and is among an elite group of Singaporeans who have been hired as national coaches in the region.
Among them have been the late Choo Seng Quee and Hussein Aljunied.
Sundram will not be the only Singaporean in the Laos football set up.
Mike Wong is currently the Technical Director of Laos, and had been leading the team prior to the Dazzler’s appointment.
Sundram’s immediate task is to prepare Laos for the Suzuki Cup where they will be up against Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.
