After 12 rounds, the team at the top of the table finally felt what it was like to taste defeat.
On Saturday (22 June), DPMM FC of Brunei fell to a 3-1 loss at the hands of Tampines Rovers at the Our Tampines Hub.
It was the Wasps’ first defeat of the season, which leaves them with only three points clear of Albirex Niigata, the team in second spot. Tampines Rovers are in third spot with 20 points, seven behind the leaders.
“We are all very proud of the performance against Brunei. The team and the staff put in a lot of work and the team gave the perfect response after the Albirex match,” said team coach Gavin Lee.
“This will only inspire us to work even harder in the coming weeks for our next run of games,” he added.
Tampines Rovers’ goals came courtesy of Jordan Webb and a brace from Ryutaro Megumi, while DPMM found the net through Razimie Ramli.
