Lions assistant coach Nazri Nasir has been named coach of the Young Lions for the 2020 Singapore Premier League season.
In a statement released on 23 November, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced that while Nazri will take on the role as Young Lions coach, Fandi Ahmad will also remain with the FAS as its head of elite youth and work closely with FAS Technical Director Joseph Palatsides.
Said FAS General Secretary Yazeen Buhari, “Fandi has accumulated a wealth of coaching experience in the last 20 years and we see the value he brings to the area of elite youth development.
“His work rate and professionalism are exceptional and he has embraced the FAS’ desire to further develop our youth footballers.”
Fandi will also serve as one of national coach Tatsuma Yoshida’s backroom staff.
“He has developed a good working relationship with national team coach Tatsuma and we see this partnership further growing for the benefit of Singapore football.”
