Some wish for diamonds. Some wish for pearls. But for one 14-year-old Singaporean teenager, all he wants is a pair of boots for rugby.
A hand-written letter sent by a 14-year-old boy to the Chiam See Tong Sports Foundation (CSTSF) is getting some online attention.
On 1 December, the Chiam See Tong Sports Foundation posted on its Facebook page a photo of the hand-written letter by the student, who is in a neighbourhood school.
The teenager, and his school cannot be named for confidentiality reasons.
In his letter, the student sought support for two pairs of boots and also a pair of sports shoes for running.
The boy added that the soles from his current pair of boots has been ‘detached’ from the boots itself.

In a Facebook post made on 2 December, the Vice-Chairman of the Chiam See Tong Sports Foundation Jose Raymond said that the “letter touched us at the Foundation, as it validates the effort we have been putting into reaching out to the community.”
“We are happy that young Singaporeans who are aiming to become champions for Singapore, are looking to the Chiam See Tong Sports Foundation for support”, he added.
