Lutz Pfannestiel headed for West Ham?

Feb 6, 2021 ,

A familiar name in the Singapore S-League almost 20 years ago is making headlines in the United Kingdom.

According to various news reports, former Sembawang Rangers and Geylang United goalkeeper Lutz Pfannestiel is being pursued by English Premier League side West Ham United as its potential Sporting Director.

According to t-online, West Ham have made an offer for St Louis FC Sporting Director Pfannenstiel as they look to improve their transfer network.

The German, who played for Sembawang Rangers (1997) and then represented the Eagles in 1999 and 2000, left Düsseldorf in Germany to move to the United States back in August.

Before his stint at Düsseldorf, he was the head of international relations and scouting at another German side Hoffenheim.

T-online state that the Hammers have submitted an offer to Pfannenstiel, having placed the 47-year-old at the top of their list to fulfil the role.

There has not been any comment from the Hammers yet.

Pfannestiel’s name also surfaced last September when there were talks about a takeover at Newcastle United by potential owners from Saudi Arabia.

Nothing materialised back then.
