Paralympic swimmer Sophie Soon came to being on the podium after finishing in fourth place in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke – SB12 at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
She clocked a time of 1:29.52 to finish 4th out of 7 swimmers in the final.
The event marked the end of her Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games campaign.
“I am overall very happy even though it’s not a personal best or season best,” she said.
“But in terms of ranking, and for my Paralympic debut, I am very happy with the outcome and to come in 4th.
“What makes me happier is that there was a Singaporean crowd there cheering me on.
“I could hear them cheering and screaming and I could hear how happy and excited they were after the race ended.”
Soon said that he will be taking a short break before getting back into the pool again to start setting new personal bests for the following season.
