Lions in Pot 4 with Cambodia for Suzuki Cup draw.

Based on rankings from the 2016 and 2018 Suzuki Cup tournament, the Lions are now at the same level as former regional whipping boys Cambodia. 

In Pot 4 along with Cambodia, the Lions will find out their group-stage opponents for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2020 during the Official Draw on 21 September.

The Lions are seeded seventh while Cambodia is the eighth seed. 

Pot 1 contains defending champions Vietnam and record five-time winners Thailand (joint-top seeds) while Pot 2 has Malaysia (third seed) and Myanmar (fourth seed).

Pot 3 comprises the Philippines and Indonesia (joint-fifth seeds), and Pot 5 is made up of Laos (ninth seed) and the winner of the qualification round between Timor Leste (10th seed) and Brunei (11th seed). 

The tournament is set to be held between 5 December 2021 to 1 January 2022, with further details to be shared in due course like where the tournament will be held, and the format of the tournament.

Singapore, winners in 1998, 2004, 2007 and 2012 have not gotten out of the group stages since winning the tournament in 2012, under Radojko Avramovic.
