Korean fan with large poster possibly folded it and brought it into National Stadium.

Facility managers of the Singapore Sports Hub and the Football Association of Singapore have responded to the issue of the posters which was first raised by TMSG.

In response to queries by CNA, Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM), and FAS said on 9 June that the poster which was attempted to be brought into the venue by the pair of children was larger than A3 in size and therefore “did not meet the conditions of entry”.

“Save for prior approved exceptions, our current rules do not allow signs or posters that are larger than A3 in size as large posters, when held up, may obstruct the view of fans behind,” they said.

However, they were also questioned about the Korean fan who had a super sized poster in support of Son Heung Min.

For that, KASM and FAS told CNA that “we acknowledge that these checks may not always be 100 per cent accurate, in particular, when signs are folded and brought into the stadium in bags”.

“This was likely to have been the case for the Korean fan.

“We will work with our security team and strive to do better,” they added in their statement.

If this was the case that people were able to fold their illegal items and then have them brought into the venue, then the whole process of having bags checked should also be questioned, as illegal items were brought into the venue secretly.

That sounds like a red flag.

FLASHBACK TO THE INCIDENT

A parent of two young children has shared his frustration after a sign created by his kids were not allowed to be brought into the National Stadium for the match between Singapore and Korea Republic on 6 June.

The father of the two young children wrote in to TMSG with photos to describe his frustration.

The post on Facebook alone was shared more than 350 times.

“My kids were watching the national team at the Sports Hub for the first time ever,” he said, while asking for his full name not to be used.

His children are aged eight and eleven, and had brought with them a banner which they had created for themselves, to support the Lions.

He then claimed that “Stadium security made us throw it away at the entrance.”
