Fandi Ahmad: Don’t expect too much.

Sep 12, 2018

The Lions brought some cheer to Bishan Stadium on 11 September after managing to score a 2-0 win over rugby-loving Fiji.

Goals by skipper Hariss Harun and Ikhsan Fandi gave the Singapore Lions a much needed psychological advantage for the international break, with the Suzuki Cup looming just two months away.

Fandi Ahmad, Singapore’s interim national coach, still played down the win, and asked fans not “to expect too much.”

He also added that “football is a funny game” and “it’s good to stay positive”, in quotes carried by the Straits Times.

Singapore will face off against Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Timor Leste in the upcoming Suzuki Cup.

Fandi referred to the Lions’ group as the Group of Death.
