Young Lions midfielder Saifullah Akbar is wanted by Albirex Niigata.
According to sources close to The Monitor, the 19-year-old midfielder has been sought by the White Swans to be part of their roster for the 2019 Singapore Premier League season.
Saifullah is the second player in the Young Lions side who is sought by a foreign team.
Irfan Fandi, who is also eligible for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines, has been snapped up by Thai League 2 side BG Pathum United.
A former Tampines Rovers player, Saifullah had made the news in September this year after he rejected a move to fourth tier Tenerife in Spain to remain in Singapore.
He is touted as one of the key players to watch who are coming through and is very likely to get his call up to the national men’s team in due time.
Saifullah is also a key player for Fandi Ahmad’s squad for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games to be held in the Philippines.
Albirex Niigata had two Singapore players – Shahul Rayyan and Adam Swandi – on their roster for the 2018 Singapore Premier League season.
