No national coach. But Lions rise five spots to 160.

Apr 5, 2019 ,

Singapore’s Lions have made gains in the football world body FIFA world rankings.

The latest rankings have put Singapore in 160th place.

This is Singapore’s best position since 2017.

What is interesting is that Singapore’s rise up the rankings come at a time when it still has not appointed a national coach.

The gains were probably attributable to Singapore’s showing at the recent AIRMARINE Cup in Kuala Lumpur where it managed a win against hosts Malaysia and a draw in regulation time against Oman.

The Lions still have a mountain to climb to catch up against the cream of ASEAN though.

Singapore’s Lions are in sixth in ASEAN, behind Vietnam (98th), Thailand (114th), the Philippines (124th), Myanmar (140th) and even Indonesia (159th).
